I started this blog so I can show off some things I've made and maybe offer some ideas to spark your creativity!Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01882859529734541215noreply@blogger.comBlogger44125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336451750257976387.post-74321694109358483222012-11-14T13:15:00.001-07:002012-11-14T13:19:02.635-07:00Super Easy Pumpkin Crumb CakeI'm so excited to share this recipe. I always know when I find or create a good recipe when it disappears quick, and boy does this go quick at my house. This recipe comes from a combination of a couple pinterest finds, plus a few revisions of my own. LOVE. <span style="font-size: large;"><b>Super Easy Pumpkin Crumb Cake</b></span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: small;">INGREDIENTS:</span> <br />
<u>Cake:</u> <br />
1/3 c. water<br />
1/2 can pumpkin<br />
2 eggs<br />
1 TBSP vanilla<br />
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice (I always just make my own: 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. ginger, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, & 1/4 tsp. ground cloves)<br />
1 box yellow cake mix<br />
1 tsp. baking soda<br />
<br />
<u>Crumb Topping:</u><br />
3/4 c. rolled oats<br />
1/2 c. flour<br />
1/2 c. brown sugar<br />
1/2 tsp. cinnamon<br />
6 TBSP butter <br />
(I am always generous with the rolled oats and the brown sugar - because to me, that's what makes a better crumb topping)<br />
<br />
DIRECTIONS:<br />
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 pan. <br />
Mix water, pumpkin, eggs, vanilla, and pumpkin pie spice together. Once combined, add the cake mix and baking soda. Mix until just combined. Pour into prepared pan. Set aside.<br />
Make the crumb topping by mixing all the ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of the cake batter already in the 9x13 pan.<br />
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.<br />
Serve warm or let cool. Either way is delicious!<br />

Wow, was it really April when I posted last? Ha ha. I must be lame. Just kidding.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We moved our boy in to his new 'big boy' room last weekend. I'm in love with the whole thing. And we did it for so cheap. Cheap I tell you. And he's in love with the room. Just proves that kids don't need a bunch of expensive things to make them happy!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlOkDYv4TOc23EXWvVWHZX8ma3HY6iaU9rXYUXDsuiWNOE6tPAr04IY1efI8-snWJ-YIYZKZPsexzS3K0y_2jsrIG2MpJTVNYP8YhU2Lh0Sa0NAvof3_Mthg4SrSeJUR0qtqFciFhUhVPC/s1600/IMG_4878.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlOkDYv4TOc23EXWvVWHZX8ma3HY6iaU9rXYUXDsuiWNOE6tPAr04IY1efI8-snWJ-YIYZKZPsexzS3K0y_2jsrIG2MpJTVNYP8YhU2Lh0Sa0NAvof3_Mthg4SrSeJUR0qtqFciFhUhVPC/s320/IMG_4878.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We spent an entire week beforehand painting the room. Really, it took us that long because we worked on it a little here and there mostly after the boy had gone to sleep. Plus, we used 3 different colors, and each needed more than one coat. But, after all the work, I absolutely LOVE the paint in the room.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I read a million different online tutorials about how to get crisp, clean lines. What we ended up doing is taping the lines off, painting one coat with the original wall color, letting it dry, then painting the new color on top of it and removing the paint while still wet. And repeating for every line. It was work. But it turned out awesome! Look at those clean lines! We did have some tiny little touch-ups to do afterward, but they were no big deal, and even now when I look at the wall I can't see any mishaps. Sure beats the other paint jobs we've done in the past.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is my favorite part of the room:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib6_wl5RYbqWgWtdi6wyf8s6JdSjTvfEyFe7YAx-GXq5f5eaHBT503Cxy3NhZp3yhNOe-SM6YxMoVAN50FuCfWrIPhSpJ-v2cU7lLhStbii8thxHFRQhWV-VAvxmXhlLQIJ9FZ3Dge8OgP/s1600/IMG_4883.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEib6_wl5RYbqWgWtdi6wyf8s6JdSjTvfEyFe7YAx-GXq5f5eaHBT503Cxy3NhZp3yhNOe-SM6YxMoVAN50FuCfWrIPhSpJ-v2cU7lLhStbii8thxHFRQhWV-VAvxmXhlLQIJ9FZ3Dge8OgP/s320/IMG_4883.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Isn't that so awesome? We love baseball in our house, and what boy wouldn't love a huge scoreboard with their name on it? I got the original idea from <a href="http://signsbyandrea.com/blog/2012/02/22/diy-baseball-scoreboard-tutorial">Signs by Andrea</a>. Check her site out. I painted this sign all by hand, no vinyl lettering for me. Cost me $4 for the piece of wood plus the paint. Not bad for such a big impact.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's his cool new bedding to fit with the theme:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJyXHjVcjhbAUEq5dRYhGR0hw803AWjAeY29GXfiwPkFSL1ymlGUJrKfqOgsArqDYAzRyNwujwMRPqEKn1q3B06XB3YuBBh57SOJOZDhs_hSFhNajjolxCqAaqoKIL8U65ykyyzVq1W1zh/s1600/IMG_4884.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJyXHjVcjhbAUEq5dRYhGR0hw803AWjAeY29GXfiwPkFSL1ymlGUJrKfqOgsArqDYAzRyNwujwMRPqEKn1q3B06XB3YuBBh57SOJOZDhs_hSFhNajjolxCqAaqoKIL8U65ykyyzVq1W1zh/s320/IMG_4884.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I made the bedsheet, following <a href="http://www.sirbubbadoo.com/2011/03/tutorial-how-to-make-cribtoddler-sheet.html">this tutorial</a>, and then whipped up a pillowcase with some leftover pieces to tie it all together.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And finally, the reading corner:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOE6TFysv_yJ8mL8jMnwj5nJ1rslf_ZfGSE8ZUTBtPmbUPslUl4mgqhi2E48uDCkCLWCyqOXG8xmYoS2TJsf5dF_GjODNMztsaA6Xg5E6hLm5fDx4_v4tiaHZEKFbfQik4r-sT5tPsgMgr/s1600/IMG_4882.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOE6TFysv_yJ8mL8jMnwj5nJ1rslf_ZfGSE8ZUTBtPmbUPslUl4mgqhi2E48uDCkCLWCyqOXG8xmYoS2TJsf5dF_GjODNMztsaA6Xg5E6hLm5fDx4_v4tiaHZEKFbfQik4r-sT5tPsgMgr/s320/IMG_4882.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The rug was a super find at Ross one day - $5.99. I had intentions to splurge on a baseball beanbag chair, but everything I found online had horrible reviews. So until I find the perfect one, we'll work with the floor pillows that were in the basement going unused anyway.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lastly, that hanging ball lamp at IKEA was the best $9 ever spent. My engineer husband even added a on/off switch so we don't have to unplug it out of the wall when it's not in use.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What do you think? Do you love it? Would your boy love this room? Mine sure does! Even my husband wishes it was his room :)</div>

</div><div style="text-align: center;">And I wanted a cute apron.</div><div style="text-align: center;">I found so many cute ones online to make,</div><div style="text-align: center;">I may have to make some more.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Here is the apron I really loved.</div><div style="text-align: center;">It is a combination of <a href="http://www.flirtyaprons.com/full-aprons.html#WO-10002">this one</a> I saw on Flirty Aprons</div><div style="text-align: center;">and <a href="http://www.craftinessisnotoptional.com/2011/03/nae-nae-apron-tutorial.html">this tutorial</a>.</div><div style="text-align: center;">I am so happy with how it turned out.</div><div style="text-align: center;">I LOVE IT!</div><div style="text-align: center;">I love the fabric I used - I love the 2 prints together.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNZDaNoWyTbH_tJYoU0gobMew3PVnnzEX7Rmrav7zeaxle0qfQo9aZTMYOdEjurEwBU7_uHoPhKMy5aiQA51UBqEHgGFiCu7qgxezf4zqmq-V996DkdhrlMpeoWB2fGpqVQ7skJ-DnV1su/s1600/IMG_3963.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNZDaNoWyTbH_tJYoU0gobMew3PVnnzEX7Rmrav7zeaxle0qfQo9aZTMYOdEjurEwBU7_uHoPhKMy5aiQA51UBqEHgGFiCu7qgxezf4zqmq-V996DkdhrlMpeoWB2fGpqVQ7skJ-DnV1su/s320/IMG_3963.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">My favorite part:</div><div style="text-align: center;">It's reversible!</div><div style="text-align: center;">Score!</div><div style="text-align: center;">2 aprons in one.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbOIMEFisb8k5RV0OnADG4rcia0Hj9-sbISa6ceidilWDs6dHqkav0vTgn7GtUCTAY61H-qWJwHVG7S9SHmIHqnI0QCXv-2GXu8LkkZ829pwIX6y-xJh4nrGY3_Bza5G0rrVJ-Crp4kVIW/s1600/IMG_3968.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbOIMEFisb8k5RV0OnADG4rcia0Hj9-sbISa6ceidilWDs6dHqkav0vTgn7GtUCTAY61H-qWJwHVG7S9SHmIHqnI0QCXv-2GXu8LkkZ829pwIX6y-xJh4nrGY3_Bza5G0rrVJ-Crp4kVIW/s320/IMG_3968.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I followed the tutorial above to make it, with a few exceptions. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Here are the changes I made:<br />
Rounded the bottom of the apron<br />
(to make it more like the Flirty Apron style)</div><div style="text-align: center;">Added pleats around the pocket</div><div style="text-align: center;">(cut 2" strips and pleats are measured every 1 inch)</div><div style="text-align: center;">Changed the bottom pleats</div><div style="text-align: center;">(cut at 5.5" and not the tutorials 6") </div><div style="text-align: center;">(pleat strips are measured every 3" with a 1" pleat instead of 2" for both)</div><div style="text-align: center;">The apron tie goes around the front of the apron so I can tie in back</div><div style="text-align: center;">Sewed a strip on to the backside so either way has a waist tie.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Added simple pockets to the backside</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">What I'd do differently next time:</div><div style="text-align: center;">I don't like how thick the seams are when sewing the strips together for the pleats and the waistband. I would use the technique used when making your own quilt binding.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Here is <a href="http://www.sewinspiredblog.com/2007/09/quilt-binding-tutorial.html">a tutorial</a> on what I'm trying to describe.</div>Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01882859529734541215noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336451750257976387.post-41287888167839723242012-04-02T21:39:00.002-06:002012-04-02T21:39:00.507-06:00Easter Lesson<div style="text-align: center;">Are you looking for an Easter lesson idea? </div><div style="text-align: center;">We had a great Easter FHE tonight, and I thought I'd share the idea.<br />
I've had this object lesson for a while and I just love it.<br />
It's perfect for little kids. <br />
We used it as our Easter lesson when we taught Sunbeams.<br />
Kids love opening up their egg to see what is inside.</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">For our treats, we made "Resurrection Rolls" Have you heard of these? I know I've seen them online called several things. Basically, you take biscuit dough, spread butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Put a large marshmallow inside, wrap it up (like a tomb) and bake. When it comes out, the marshmallow is gone, leaving "the tomb" empty.</div>Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01882859529734541215noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336451750257976387.post-80942440467585064862012-03-13T18:59:00.000-06:002012-03-13T18:59:22.260-06:00Little Boy Tie<div style="text-align: center;">Today I made the little boy a new tie for church.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

New clothes for super cheap.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">First up, my "new" skinny jeans!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFDp7Ny8_ryiUsHg6XBCKkGO2fPb0nrLVHslVRGc8hMqpmdr4XCRiBFyRppkL0cKz6zgtcHWs0vP4Fo65_aSQtpKN9V-Ww9KqEODmhnNaACJm5Ku1G5KdWFXnXEDAFrh0wOqpXOAe3hyphenhyphendr/s1600/IMG_3759.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFDp7Ny8_ryiUsHg6XBCKkGO2fPb0nrLVHslVRGc8hMqpmdr4XCRiBFyRppkL0cKz6zgtcHWs0vP4Fo65_aSQtpKN9V-Ww9KqEODmhnNaACJm5Ku1G5KdWFXnXEDAFrh0wOqpXOAe3hyphenhyphendr/s320/IMG_3759.JPG" width="240" /></a></div></div><div style="text-align: center;">I'm not one to spend a ton on 'fad' clothing. I personally think skinny jeans belong in this category. I just can't imagine they're going to stick around in fashionland for a long time. Therefore, I didn't want to spend good money on them. Maybe time will prove me wrong, and if so, I may buy me a nice pair. But for now, here is how I got my skinny jeans on a budget.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I bought a pair of DI jeans for maybe $5, sewed up each of the legs to look like skinny jeans, hemmed the bottom of the jeans because I'm short, and voila!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Second... a new printed dress.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieTvlvrFCKG3m6s5oVmfThxnAy7P-WONH0Xax51a2cI6PDyrXBkeq4U-aTcOtqD5CEBxsnUdoDgoK98vAvTwvnWnlaqgen2lBkRHsJH4W3rEMEY_JcnCSo7L1YLSuKzJ-TAHleY5Vxgh-z/s1600/IMG_3730.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieTvlvrFCKG3m6s5oVmfThxnAy7P-WONH0Xax51a2cI6PDyrXBkeq4U-aTcOtqD5CEBxsnUdoDgoK98vAvTwvnWnlaqgen2lBkRHsJH4W3rEMEY_JcnCSo7L1YLSuKzJ-TAHleY5Vxgh-z/s320/IMG_3730.JPG" width="240" /></a></div></div><div style="text-align: center;">Also, a DI find. For $8. Only problem was that it was just a hair too short. No problem around here... I just cut the dress around the waistline, added 3 inches of material, sewed it back together, and now it works! </div><div style="text-align: center;">I wear a sash (from my closet) around the waistline, but I knew this sash was going with the dress when I eyed the dress.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin-kWXjLuRW2SOVbOthyW08L4SfDTsJHfnvKWH3ErpRcsZppIK9NwXhEobP-FYmtHtoA6XhKQwXTtt4oN4ps5UlbxqOHOh4QZbkhUQ7TSHF0-Zut-DVCF9FisOXQnwEWCQsjCQqnHvM9Mn/s1600/IMG_3076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEin-kWXjLuRW2SOVbOthyW08L4SfDTsJHfnvKWH3ErpRcsZppIK9NwXhEobP-FYmtHtoA6XhKQwXTtt4oN4ps5UlbxqOHOh4QZbkhUQ7TSHF0-Zut-DVCF9FisOXQnwEWCQsjCQqnHvM9Mn/s200/IMG_3076.JPG" width="200" /></a></div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">So this month I'm working like crazy on Christmas stuff. </div><div style="text-align: center;">It's never too early, right?</div><div style="text-align: center;">Never mind, that it should have been done before this past Christmas...</div><div style="text-align: center;">I choose to look at the glass half-full.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">We now have names on our stockings!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNDBZrBLfwpGMYoaOpnfOXFkruu96GXCBp_-v8wqffE2NhubCgEWhAT9ihkHviSEr6v1UvL8LfWnloLMI1q10n7c-SVpPpw22noKyQ4AARLzMtQ90ltrvUEulfacocpdG2RtUiceMH7gct/s1600/IMG_3681.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNDBZrBLfwpGMYoaOpnfOXFkruu96GXCBp_-v8wqffE2NhubCgEWhAT9ihkHviSEr6v1UvL8LfWnloLMI1q10n7c-SVpPpw22noKyQ4AARLzMtQ90ltrvUEulfacocpdG2RtUiceMH7gct/s320/IMG_3681.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Looks like I stitched those letters on by hand, doesn't it?</div><div style="text-align: center;">A big thanks to my mom for the most awesome glue ever. She was cleaning out her basement and found it. I'm not sure if you can even buy stuff like this anymore.</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVDtYJ9zsUVnHqj52tC9Uhkl6E2Y0EDiEGIBugiV-C8kLvHivntNglKOZ7A1Jm7K0rj8FqU-oabJ6DiOtIVY_UvOVY308cPY1ArKKHe4z1J-nLuHYCZstrbPkMCUGvDsjis94i90ejiSUg/s1600/IMG_3679.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVDtYJ9zsUVnHqj52tC9Uhkl6E2Y0EDiEGIBugiV-C8kLvHivntNglKOZ7A1Jm7K0rj8FqU-oabJ6DiOtIVY_UvOVY308cPY1ArKKHe4z1J-nLuHYCZstrbPkMCUGvDsjis94i90ejiSUg/s320/IMG_3679.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
With glue, this was such a quick project.<br />
Kinda glad I waited. I would have hand-stitched the letters like a fool if I would have done them before Christmas :)</div>Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01882859529734541215noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336451750257976387.post-2072593005528624232012-01-28T13:57:00.001-07:002014-06-03T17:00:16.078-06:00DIY Hooded Towel<div style="text-align: center;">
My little boy is growing up too fast! He's long outgrown the cute hooded towels I received for baby gifts. Time to move to the jumbo-sized hooded towels!!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The finished towel. Love it!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hooded towels have been floating around Pinterest, and I found a lot of tutorials online, so I'll just include links to the sites I looked at:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://onesimplebliss.blogspot.com/2011/04/diy-hooded-towels.html">One Simple Bliss</a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://thecottagemama.com/2010/10/embellished-hooded-towel-tutorial/" target="_blank">The Cottage Mama</a> </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(The Cottage Home tutorial is my personal favorite, I adore that cute ric-rac edging)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These 3 tutorials are all basically the same, I used bits of each one to know what I was doing. I wanted to add them all here, so next time I make a hooded towel, I don't need to search all over the internet to find the same tutorials.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway, I just wanted to add one quick little step to save you some time if you have the same problem that I ran into.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The ribbon I wanted to put on needed to be placed a certain direction so it looked just right when finished. In case you have that same problem, here is a photo of the CORRECT way it should be sewn to the hand towel:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Place the ribbon toward the fold of the towel</td></tr>

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7Kc94x-ToUas-oL31z8-1LPGkC8SvcygljwLJVx-CO01DEY8ghcCBtus84Ml63on1ywZW5-OEoCC1u_WcE-ZKj8lJ2IO-IZ_KNEuSZaQpB6_KkAu6r119YxpDKtJXmnNgEI1Aa1AuCQOe/s1600/IMG_3302.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7Kc94x-ToUas-oL31z8-1LPGkC8SvcygljwLJVx-CO01DEY8ghcCBtus84Ml63on1ywZW5-OEoCC1u_WcE-ZKj8lJ2IO-IZ_KNEuSZaQpB6_KkAu6r119YxpDKtJXmnNgEI1Aa1AuCQOe/s320/IMG_3302.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And on the eggplant, there was a recipe for Easy Eggplant Pizzas. It will officially be my next eggplant adventure. Basically, just slice the eggplant into rounds, top it like you would normal mini pizzas, cook it at 425 for 12-15 minutes, and enjoy!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

I'm still around - just busy. Anyway, I just quickly wanted to post this little secret of mine for how to decorate a cake.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">1. Print off your image, etc. that you want to use. I made this for my son's first birthday cake, so all I needed was a number 1. Tape to cardboard and using an exacto knife, cut around the image - cutting the cardboard at the same time.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPIZhR3ckEvy6izOgR4Ouk3Brq2tcAw26skDF-oIp-SBUgtnC3Tuu5nbLRYvLr6gCVJQSJj80KAJkUDxI-ofI5XeYNm4HzmWH0MOLnOFR9EbUw9Ern0qunh22hBoII_vjfc6Flw9Q8V6fZ/s1600/IMG_3197.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPIZhR3ckEvy6izOgR4Ouk3Brq2tcAw26skDF-oIp-SBUgtnC3Tuu5nbLRYvLr6gCVJQSJj80KAJkUDxI-ofI5XeYNm4HzmWH0MOLnOFR9EbUw9Ern0qunh22hBoII_vjfc6Flw9Q8V6fZ/s320/IMG_3197.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
2. After frosting your cake, lay the stencil on top of your cake. Shake your sprinkles over the stencil and pick up the stencil when done. I also put sprinkles all over the cake, but you don't have to do that.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI6EdUndfeIz8Y-UfkWCxNbsXGj-r7b48WLn7lsTjyKXsLVNjEbLsSe5LjIUqqK-lGga_WblGRtS4IbPrj0FGUhYT3CHip_-LkK5MN9dboATXg3i84Trgznbs1KrSOMnYUwKG6MGwgNLr8/s1600/IMG_3203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI6EdUndfeIz8Y-UfkWCxNbsXGj-r7b48WLn7lsTjyKXsLVNjEbLsSe5LjIUqqK-lGga_WblGRtS4IbPrj0FGUhYT3CHip_-LkK5MN9dboATXg3i84Trgznbs1KrSOMnYUwKG6MGwgNLr8/s320/IMG_3203.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here's another example. I made this cake for Halloween. Please note this image is not my exact cake, this is from the <a href="http://www.countryliving.com/cooking/entertaining/scary-cat-stencil-1008">original source</a>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I immediately loved it and wanted to play along. Check out their <a href="http://aquaseventy6.blogspot.com/2011/09/fabulously-frugal-fall-fashion-friday-1.html">Fabulously Frugal Fall Fashion Friday</a> post. Wow, that's a mouthful!!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Okay, I know I'm behind on starting on their challenges, but I just wanted to play along for their first challenge, even though that week is long past.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Inspiration:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0BkJXdCdI2DrotCE6GaDDrHAVnsNzc1hBJczYwacFTARnA5HOUOK1fr4q-K1HziY86U6bqut7fNoI6EFsbKW20RqRHCybPQPKVr2eE__fE5Rjw6raoySSZ0uqGIM814VgATtOph5LJ2C/s1600/White1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="294" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0BkJXdCdI2DrotCE6GaDDrHAVnsNzc1hBJczYwacFTARnA5HOUOK1fr4q-K1HziY86U6bqut7fNoI6EFsbKW20RqRHCybPQPKVr2eE__fE5Rjw6raoySSZ0uqGIM814VgATtOph5LJ2C/s320/White1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">I love that dress on the left. But I don't own a white dress. Darn. But then I remembered I own a white skirt... hmmmm.... </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Here's the finished product:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF58vP9j3_hb_RYpICUbnKsJoVCOut4cN0I8l4HLUesHJ3O04AWfbwSoCXK1HKzapxy0X7Iy7Nq7bGBmHR8dtwxCjf7_q75QCf9_z5v2DfRyHqDe3TS0tCP40XvVf1-lGmjjVUYlhPpFqg/s1600/IMG_2787.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiF58vP9j3_hb_RYpICUbnKsJoVCOut4cN0I8l4HLUesHJ3O04AWfbwSoCXK1HKzapxy0X7Iy7Nq7bGBmHR8dtwxCjf7_q75QCf9_z5v2DfRyHqDe3TS0tCP40XvVf1-lGmjjVUYlhPpFqg/s320/IMG_2787.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">What do you think?</div><div style="text-align: center;">I'm still in a little bit of denial that Fall is here, hence the no boots :)<br />
<br />
<u>Cost Breakdown:</u><br />
Dress $0 (yep, it really is a skirt)<br />
Cardigan $0<br />
Leggings $0 (shhh...they're my old maternity ones)<br />

I have good intentions, but I just get side-tracked when something new comes along and I seem to forget about the other cool thing that I was working on. Anyway, I've recently decided I have toooooooo many unfinished projects around here. I'm really trying to just plug away and finish stuff now before I start on anything else new.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And cue the most recently finished project...</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh917ihGV0fcaiiP8yY-ThGhBx4hP-PxNJUurg8uvACUbI6XNBtw8D5wtT5o86oyqXu9oqZTj9udPL17dWSpwekQF9Wivp7f5ga0Pjxx2jsXJtr73eca3G0qn4hfWP4Nym-QIGuB6Y9gvxC/s1600/IMG_2781.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh917ihGV0fcaiiP8yY-ThGhBx4hP-PxNJUurg8uvACUbI6XNBtw8D5wtT5o86oyqXu9oqZTj9udPL17dWSpwekQF9Wivp7f5ga0Pjxx2jsXJtr73eca3G0qn4hfWP4Nym-QIGuB6Y9gvxC/s320/IMG_2781.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Do you love it? </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And here's the original where this idea came from:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK_u7ucqaP0LuPLDtljo1A7UsGjUNhQhtYm3mjQX4AjR6pEtA5I7qI2x_2kc5-k62S7kjAUmU4d-8bwnBDC0FKVSkAPJb7zetoRXJ8JpicHKq_GfKu7XbP9sfMMXEZKlHAY9_6wznaw8O6/s1600/victory-baseball.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK_u7ucqaP0LuPLDtljo1A7UsGjUNhQhtYm3mjQX4AjR6pEtA5I7qI2x_2kc5-k62S7kjAUmU4d-8bwnBDC0FKVSkAPJb7zetoRXJ8JpicHKq_GfKu7XbP9sfMMXEZKlHAY9_6wznaw8O6/s320/victory-baseball.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">I can't remember how much the original canvas was at the store, but I do know it was way too much. And I knew I could make something similar. With a quote we like better. We don't really like to focus on losing around this house...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Total spent on this project: $3.00. I bought a canvas at the DI for $3 and had all the paint supplies already. I just printed the words from MS Word and a baseball from google images, traced, and painted. How easy is that?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And let's have one more look:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzhF6KqArI3AxONQ7E1l4_FwgCjptEzjN0g8w9OptkWAWDmj9hTwch5hXfCqx0EtsNpoh8a7yYEvl4eGL3ghFrDYECw7eD27z5CAqMPDm5VThU7R0TBVIidw31PQaVLm7jShG_4l0RGA21/s1600/IMG_2781.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzhF6KqArI3AxONQ7E1l4_FwgCjptEzjN0g8w9OptkWAWDmj9hTwch5hXfCqx0EtsNpoh8a7yYEvl4eGL3ghFrDYECw7eD27z5CAqMPDm5VThU7R0TBVIidw31PQaVLm7jShG_4l0RGA21/s320/IMG_2781.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">This will be perfect in our son's baseball-themed bedroom!</div>Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01882859529734541215noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336451750257976387.post-70228409995027425042011-09-16T10:47:00.000-06:002011-09-16T10:47:35.786-06:00Quilt InspirationsThe State Fair came to town - and I loved walking around the quilts on display. <div style="text-align: center;">Here is the shirt I started with:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_Gv16Awl15qUKXGpznmpTPuNXHzAA56VgEiaqp06ZAtGWzgqnWhbJXxOt2QBplCJFw_oM1uL6I_VIjlcC7nDmCR8oHPFDyJs9zLqiIcVRRWyooTXeL9wIatMzOVGbXk-qzYFbbJ2kkFCL/s1600/IMG_2592.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_Gv16Awl15qUKXGpznmpTPuNXHzAA56VgEiaqp06ZAtGWzgqnWhbJXxOt2QBplCJFw_oM1uL6I_VIjlcC7nDmCR8oHPFDyJs9zLqiIcVRRWyooTXeL9wIatMzOVGbXk-qzYFbbJ2kkFCL/s320/IMG_2592.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">After cutting the shirt along the crochet piece to make arm holes for the vest, I sliced open the back of the shirt (which is now the front of the vest) and attached the fabric from the sleeves, just to make the vest a little more drapey. Does that make sense? Well, anyway, here's the final product:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIHz8m8etxkCXIEjskbWNENe0yhumGg6pJfmxE2nOnt8X5AN6VjtdKcDVWv6-rCjugA7wRzx9hzzD9plBpNyQaqRI4uobHomGcRro7lAIEZzFfdNAWwN3gCJ5y982xDOo3x3LDTGWrLfRz/s1600/IMG_2695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIHz8m8etxkCXIEjskbWNENe0yhumGg6pJfmxE2nOnt8X5AN6VjtdKcDVWv6-rCjugA7wRzx9hzzD9plBpNyQaqRI4uobHomGcRro7lAIEZzFfdNAWwN3gCJ5y982xDOo3x3LDTGWrLfRz/s320/IMG_2695.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />

I've been making my own baby food. Best. Idea. Ever. My son loves the food. I feel better about what he's eating. And I love that is so much cheaper than buying the pre-packaged baby food at the store. $1 for one Gerber container vs. $1 for a bag of carrots that makes a week's worth of baby food. Easy decision.<br />
<br />
I won't give you the full tutorial on how to cook and make your own baby food, because there are LOTS of websites out there that show you that. But here are my top two favorite baby food websites:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/">Momtastic</a><br />
<a href="http://www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com/">Homemade Baby Food Recipes</a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">But I will show you how I freeze and what I use regularly to thaw the frozen food.</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">When I am finished pureeing the cooked food, I freeze in ice cube trays, and when they're frozen in the trays, I pop out and put in a plastic freezer bag, label the food and date, and stick in the freezer.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAs-lPvU_fB4cZFNJ5q4Yy0VrYk4zF_3dbJuAQk-eyMYOKidkXfhyphenhyphenNtRTWXfjik2XwPgNqX2KW9FePTbTJe1UcgAXp-EuToyImAotwIrkfMBToTMXwRvIYDyBeYnf3nNu_2FLy0EJTTWhn/s1600/IMG_2543.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAs-lPvU_fB4cZFNJ5q4Yy0VrYk4zF_3dbJuAQk-eyMYOKidkXfhyphenhyphenNtRTWXfjik2XwPgNqX2KW9FePTbTJe1UcgAXp-EuToyImAotwIrkfMBToTMXwRvIYDyBeYnf3nNu_2FLy0EJTTWhn/s320/IMG_2543.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Then, each night, I pull out a few cubes for the next day, stick them in the plastic Gerber baby food containers and put in the fridge overnight.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9c9z6em8p1EITwHUOakjlYXWJsnK2arfesZUkVjzz2YBGYWOo1Jlc3GWRDZ9fulxVw1zSmgPgWZejlW_zd0rD2JknjsfWbYQ05hceafcQQxMzxYNJPysX9cRr7V6GEO6XGd5adGHXfbi_/s1600/IMG_2540.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9c9z6em8p1EITwHUOakjlYXWJsnK2arfesZUkVjzz2YBGYWOo1Jlc3GWRDZ9fulxVw1zSmgPgWZejlW_zd0rD2JknjsfWbYQ05hceafcQQxMzxYNJPysX9cRr7V6GEO6XGd5adGHXfbi_/s320/IMG_2540.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">By the next day, the cubes are thawed and ready for my little baby to eat.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTxk8a-dZ_OD3EaRpI3UtHtypUTQAIXE9DTmM2eH2bpUIF9jYO_rO3BnPcpTIHoF02VN3mUsCV7L0lilKqscUOxDkPYwrB3Bets7D3rdH3Qa02UpJ65JVA_r6G8PksrjDaVnF1z85Mrz5Q/s1600/IMG_2542.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTxk8a-dZ_OD3EaRpI3UtHtypUTQAIXE9DTmM2eH2bpUIF9jYO_rO3BnPcpTIHoF02VN3mUsCV7L0lilKqscUOxDkPYwrB3Bets7D3rdH3Qa02UpJ65JVA_r6G8PksrjDaVnF1z85Mrz5Q/s320/IMG_2542.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">So easy! I sometimes make a big batch of baby food at once, or some nights I boil just a couple carrots or just an apple, while I'm making dinner anyway, so it's no big deal.</div>Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01882859529734541215noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336451750257976387.post-71973022574585506112011-08-11T15:39:00.000-06:002011-08-11T15:39:00.218-06:00Flower BowsWe had some family in town recently, so all the girls got together to make some hair bows. Too bad though that recently I have bought plenty of clothes, </div><div style="text-align: center;">and I just couldn't justify the purchase.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Qoa5qMZJwiXEMqaTy2UIC_CY2hGDVWXBss3PbsQmd4zR9toCYOtcYPabQ2TrBGxyFxY9uIEIwYpeLNXMNtF801sf3y1lo8_NTaS-LdEMVbFdMw_-rV6-3H0BVpBOGQleHbxADYseJ2PY/s1600/womens-slub-knit-ruffle-trim-henleys-navy-stripe.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Qoa5qMZJwiXEMqaTy2UIC_CY2hGDVWXBss3PbsQmd4zR9toCYOtcYPabQ2TrBGxyFxY9uIEIwYpeLNXMNtF801sf3y1lo8_NTaS-LdEMVbFdMw_-rV6-3H0BVpBOGQleHbxADYseJ2PY/s1600/womens-slub-knit-ruffle-trim-henleys-navy-stripe.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Don't you love these walls? When I saw them online I totally fell in love! You can see the full post <a href="http://evolutionofstyleblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/pretty-paneled-headboard-wall.html">HERE</a>. We also used <a href="http://www.decorchick.com/diy/how-to-the-paneled-wall/">Decor Chick's Tutorial</a> for this project as well. We used Decor Chick because that was the perfect tutorial to teach us all the steps. We decided we didn't want an all-white wall, so we first painted our wall a beautiful green. We were also going to go with a different pattern then she used, but in the end our vision looked too busy, and so we went with exactly how she did her wall. And I love it!<br />
<br />
Here is our boring before wall:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiPdcNY-MNOkmGCfBuy4Jz9EIsclA9vzijeW-P61AcpUiT9bbrkVIlft5LdAOfahyphenhyphenDI_GgsF2-VdRedcdILwCErQDdCrKhGPXo0js2xxBl79UBhAFjbKe_VNlVNHOHWPinGKcBr4HYhc3J/s1600/IMG_0846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiPdcNY-MNOkmGCfBuy4Jz9EIsclA9vzijeW-P61AcpUiT9bbrkVIlft5LdAOfahyphenhyphenDI_GgsF2-VdRedcdILwCErQDdCrKhGPXo0js2xxBl79UBhAFjbKe_VNlVNHOHWPinGKcBr4HYhc3J/s320/IMG_0846.JPG" t8="true" width="240" /></a></div><br />
And here is the "After" wall that we are so in love with:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiu_rp6-_kuWs7QFekCFil3v8wdutTCw5brJ_b07iiUzseJzE7-GcClN788wbsFD60Crwdlt4Nbi_e799SuTnIq9p9VIMj8IL_k4XEaWOdKm9YCtGzSCg9e9gunDkMplkHpSw01h2uWXOR/s1600/IMG_2243.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiu_rp6-_kuWs7QFekCFil3v8wdutTCw5brJ_b07iiUzseJzE7-GcClN788wbsFD60Crwdlt4Nbi_e799SuTnIq9p9VIMj8IL_k4XEaWOdKm9YCtGzSCg9e9gunDkMplkHpSw01h2uWXOR/s320/IMG_2243.JPG" t8="true" width="240" /></a></div><br />
Our bedroom is starting to come together! We're hitting up every yard sale we drive by on the lookout for some nice nightstands. And next project on our to do list is a headboard. We look all over, but just can't seem to find one that we love, so assuming that is still the case, we'll start making one soon. I was also thinking of making a bedspread, but now I love our current comforter a lot more with the change in the wall.Teresahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01882859529734541215noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1336451750257976387.post-62977815081577107922011-05-25T15:08:00.002-06:002011-05-25T15:08:00.177-06:00Healthy Spaghetti<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://idothings.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/spaghetti-squash.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" j8="true" src="http://idothings.info/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/spaghetti-squash.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
How come I didn't know about spaghetti squash before now? Holy cow, it's amazing. As if spaghetti couldn't get any quicker to make, along came the spaghetti squash and made spaghetti quicker AND healthier! I really don't like squash, but this kind I can handle. And since it's so easy to make, I can give you the recipe all in 3 simple photos!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div> <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/clean-convenient-cuisine/recipe-2975.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" j8="true" src="http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/clean-convenient-cuisine/recipe-2975.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Step 1: Cut spaghetti squash lengthwhise and clean out seeds. Cook in oven for 30-40 minutes at 375. Or you can cook it in the microwave in about 5 minutes - just put the squash (rind side up) in a bowl with a little water in the bottom.</td></tr>
</tbody></table> <br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/91/Spaghetti_Squash_Prepared_500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" j8="true" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/91/Spaghetti_Squash_Prepared_500.jpg" width="291" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Step 2: When the insides are soft, run a fork along the sides, and the squash separates into perfect spaghetti strands</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Step 3: Looks just like spaghetti! Top it with whatever you'd normally put on the pasta stuff. I love it served back in the shell, like the first photo.</td></tr>

I'm just loving them right now. I made one to cover an empty wall and to get all the craziness off of our refrigerator. I love it. It's in the perfect spot in our house to remind us of upcoming events and I can keep my kitchen looking uncluttered at the same time.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0x63mOXrguyiFoXvpxvllFrgWbiehJVtm6eFaslfYY6gkhlmv8p1W_TsmAFuvkgrKDIVTjzzoSDuOL4Tuaf5L_FhH8enC1rQeokBP5wrSV3SvZ5d_dUzjxazFOPkJFuMStkenpcjF1s3_/s1600/IMG_2086.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0x63mOXrguyiFoXvpxvllFrgWbiehJVtm6eFaslfYY6gkhlmv8p1W_TsmAFuvkgrKDIVTjzzoSDuOL4Tuaf5L_FhH8enC1rQeokBP5wrSV3SvZ5d_dUzjxazFOPkJFuMStkenpcjF1s3_/s320/IMG_2086.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
For a bridal shower gift, I made this cute little magnet recipe holder. I love it too. It's so perfect to hold a recipe on your counter while you're preparing dinner.<br />
<br />

While buying stuff for the recipe holder, I just couldn't pass up getting supplies for another one. This one can hold whatever you want it to. I'm not sure if I'll keep this one or give it away yet. Have I told you about my new favorite store? If you're in the Salt Lake area, and want a place for wood crafts, take a look at <a href="http://www.thewoodconnection.com/">The Wood Connection</a>. I love everything there! <br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy_xSWiqrw-SiSYwTF99cqEU_VdLzPbDA55BSngXRILG_h9ptykwoO1EPrg-Cu0HsjN4lqGEuOtitqcemSqd6tHOVIAdG1FoFenhyphenhyphen1pBicOCi8USUU6LrxX2nW8XkmR0i80nGKnDW69AXG/s1600/IMG_2061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" j8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy_xSWiqrw-SiSYwTF99cqEU_VdLzPbDA55BSngXRILG_h9ptykwoO1EPrg-Cu0HsjN4lqGEuOtitqcemSqd6tHOVIAdG1FoFenhyphenhyphen1pBicOCi8USUU6LrxX2nW8XkmR0i80nGKnDW69AXG/s320/IMG_2061.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I love it because it's a dish that takes total perfection to get it just right. The ingredients have to be mixed just perfectly, the custard has to be set just right after baking. There are a lot of variables for it to turn out well. And I love finding ways to garnish the dish so it looks beautiful when served.<br />
<br />
My husband loves making it for this one reason:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.recipetips.com/images/glossary/c/cooking_torch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" j8="true" src="http://www.recipetips.com/images/glossary/c/cooking_torch.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The cooking torch</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>He loves using our cooking torch to melt the sugar on the top. What man doesn't love an excuse to have an open flame?<br />
