Bubble Bread

I love this bread!  Sorta similar to Macaroni Grill's bread that is dipped in olive oil.  And it's perfect for an appetizer for a large crowd.  The little balls of bread break off really easy.

Super simple to make too!  You can use any bread recipe (if you need a good recipe, leave me a comment).  While kneading the dough, mix in some grated cheddar cheese.  Once the dough has risen, roll out the dough, cut it into a bunch of little squares, roll up each square into a ball, and dipped in a bowl of melted butter mixed with some parsley, marjoram, and basil.  Arrange in a pan, let rise again, then bake.

We ate it warm, dipping each bite in a plate of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and pepper.  Delicious!

Pillows

About time I put something else up here.  This is from last year, but I wanted to move the post from my family blog to this one.  These are the pillows I made for our living room.  We have an orange and red theme going on.  I wanted to mix in the orange, without being too powerful.  I think the orange strips add just the right amount of pop!

Baseball Centerpiece

My church had a Women's Event last night to celebrate the birthday of the Relief Society.  I volunteered to help with the centerpieces, which they had one for each month of the year.  Easy for some months (December - Christmas decorations, November - Thanksgiving, April - Easter), not so easy for others.  Hello August?  No holidays there.  What would you do??

This is what I came up with to signify August:
Baseball!!!

My husband gets full credit for this idea.  Of course that's what he would come up with, right?  So true if you know my husband.  I just made the theme look feminine.

The best part of the centerpiece was the baseball pennants.  I know those will come in handy in future years.  Wouldn't this work perfect for a little boy's birthday party?  Because that's at least one time it will be re-used.

Menu Board

These have been all over blog-land.  And they're so cute I couldn't pass making one up.  It's a lifesaver for me. I can plan a week's worth of meals in no time.  The hardest part for me was coming up with the list of meals we eat regularly.  With some thought put in to it, I came up with over 50 meals that we now rotate through.  I love it!  Now on to the next step - building our food storage based on these meals that we rotate.  Store what you eat and eat what you store :)

Easiest Baby Quilt Ever

I really need to stop visiting the fabric section when I go to Walmart.  I told myself I wouldn't buy any more material until I had used up a majority of what I have on hand at home.  I have piles of fabric here that is just waiting to be used for something fabulous.  But I couldn't pass up this material on clearance.

To make it even sweeter, the quilt itself was already stitched - I only had to add binding.  I used this binding tutorial from Make It and Love It to finish the edges.  Woo-hoo!

Baby Shower Gift

I made my first diaper cake!

Here's how I did it:
Bottom layer - 20 diapers (newborn size)
Middle layer - 12 diapers (newborn size)
Top layer - 8 diapers (newborn size)

I rolled the diapers around a can of food, and then put one elastic band around all diapers in that layer.  I removed the can of food, and stuffed a blanket in the center of the cake.  Then, I hot glued a ribbon over the elastic of each layer.  Bamboo skewers helped hold the layers together, and a cardboard circle provided the "cake plate."  On the top of the cake, I put a cute little stuffed animal, with arms stitch together, to hug the blanket.

I wrapped the cake in cellophane and added a few more gifts for the new baby (headbands, pink booties, and a bottle).  The mom-to-be loved it, so it's definitely a keeper!

Primary Class Christmas Gifts

For our primary class, I made these cute blocks:
We took photos of the children months ago in our class, so I could quickly put these together, and modge-podge the photo and scrapbook paper onto a block of wood.  Super simple.  And hopefully the kids will enjoy them.
